Frequently asked questions

How does an auction work? An auction operates by showcasing cars, with or without a reserve price. Prospective buyers place offers on the vehicle repeatedly until the auction closes.
Upon the auction’s end, the highest offer secures the car, if your bid is equal to or higher than the reserve price. If your bid is lower than the reserve, you have not bid high enough to meet the minimum price. With over 16 years of experience, Route 66 Auctions (Powered by E&R Classics) assists people all over the world in buying their dream car. As car enthusiasts ourselves, we aim to make the auction process as simple and safe as possible.

How do I register to bid? To bid on an auction, you need to set up a Route 66 Auctions (Powered by E&R Classics) account and add a credit card. To register for an account, click on the black ‘Register’ button in the top right corner. If you already have an account, click ‘Log in’ to bid on cars. Having difficulty registering or logging in? Contact our sales team at +31 416 751 393.

When do auctions end? Auctions at Route 66 Auctions (Powered by E&R Classics) are active for 14 days. Each listing specifies its exact closing date and time. To help bidders track time effectively, there’s a real-time countdown indicating the remaining days, hours, minutes, and seconds. Should a bid be made in the crucial last three minutes of an auction, Route 66 Auctions (Powered by E&R Classics) extends the auction by an additional three minutes. This extension provides other participants the opportunity to respond with higher bids. This process repeats with each last-minute bid, potentially prolonging the auction beyond its initially scheduled end time.

How do I bid on an auction? You can choose to make a direct offer. This way you determine the amount you have in mind. Or you can place a quick bid, which are predetermined amounts that you see on the auction page. Route 66 Auctions (Powered by E&R Classics) also offers an automated service to make bidding easier. Instead of manually bidding during the auction, you can place an automatic bid. Fill in the maximum amount you’re prepared to pay and automatic bids will be placed on your behalf until we reach the amount you submitted.

Can I see the vehicle in person? All vehicles are listed as to whether the car is in the showroom or at the customer’s premises. When the vehicle is at the customer’s premises, we recommend that all prospective bidders inspect the vehicle before making a bid. If you would like to view the vehicle in person beforehand, we can assist in scheduling a convenient time for both you and the seller.

When a car is located in our showroom, you are welcome for viewing auction cars every other week on Wednesday morning from 09.00 till 12.00. This is always on Wednesday the week before the auction closes. No appointment necessary. The address is Kleiweg 1, 5145NA Waalwijk, the Netherlands.

Can I get more information about a vehicle? If you have any questions about a vehicle that have not been answered in the listing, or if you would like to arrange a viewing, you can contact our sales team.

Can I find out the reserve of a vehicle? No. Reserve prices remain confidential on auction listings. If the reserve price is met, you will be notified via email and a notification on the auction listing page.

How do I collect the vehicle? When the 25% deposit is paid, we will contact you to arrange the vehicle collection. We work with partners who can help transport and import vehicles. Our sales team can help you and give you a quotation for transport.

What to expect after winning an auction and payment procedures? Once you emerge as the top bidder surpassing the reserve price, congratulations, you’ve won the auction! Our sales team will then reach out to discuss payment details with you. In general, we will ask you to make a payment through wire transfer of 25% within 48 hours after the auction closes. The final payment of the rest amount takes place before collecting the car.

Is there an additional charge from Route 66 Auctions (Powered by E&R Classics) for winning an auction? Absolutely not! The amount you bid is the total amount you’ll pay. We ensure transparency by not adding any buyer’s fees or hidden charges.

Can I modify, withdraw, or cancel my bid? Bids are final and cannot be altered or withdrawn once submitted. It’s crucial to be fully ready to purchase the vehicle before placing your bid.

What kind of cars can I offer? We’re accepting classic and sports cars. Have a look at THIS page for examples of cars we’d had in our auctions before.
